Please join us at 333 N Rancho Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89106 for the HOPE for Prisoners Tuesday Night Huddle Up!
Tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 6 pm-7:30pm PST. We will be gathering in person but also will be streaming live into Nevada Department of Corrections as we welcome Malik Wade to share his amazing story. Malik Wade is the Executive Director of the Scholastic Interest Group. SIG is a nonprofit organization that mentors justice system involved youth in his hometown of San Francisco, Ca.
At the age of 21, Malik was on the FBI’s wanted list for seven years as he lived as a fugitive in Canada. He was eventually captured and at his arraignment he plead guilty to fifteen years in federal prison to avoid a life sentence.
However, not to be defeated by circumstance, once he got to prison he made an amazing transformation by reading, studying and bettering himself mentally, physically and spiritually and eventually made a successful transition back into society.
Since he has been home he has a long list of accomplishments. Aside from his duties at SIG, he has been a guest lecturer at Stanford University, UC Berkeley and San Francisco State and several correctional facilities throughout California.
Malik is also an alumnus of Project ReMADE Entrepreneurship program at Stanford Law School and is an entrepreneur that runs several successful businesses such as an online coaching business and is also a real estate investor.
The crowning achievement of his work came in 2017 when he was able to escort 14 inner city youth on an all-expenses paid trip to Accra Ghana in Africa for 10 days. Mr. Wade is a true testament that it’s not where you start but where you end.
Refreshments will be served from 5:30-6:00pm so come early and grab a seat! If you are unable to make it, you can view the event on HOPE for Prisoners Facebook Live.
