Captain Roxanne Burke was hired on at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in August of 1995. Roxanne has worked in many facets of LVMPD to include Defensive Tactics and Reality Based Training, Background Investigations, Undercover Vice operations, Internal Affairs and Leadership Training.
Roxanne served as the Safe Strip Commander encompassing all aspects of the Las Vegas Strip Resort Corridor as well as leadership over the Events Planning Section of LVMPD, commanding events such as New Year’s Eve, Electric Daisy Carnival, Mayweather boxing, UFC Fights, Music Festivals and numerous major film events throughout the valley. In addition, Roxanne worked closely with and coordinated dignitary visits for the President and Vice-President of the United States as well as large scale operations for major incidents throughout the valley. Throughout her career, Roxanne has remained passionate about leadership and teaching and continues her certifications in Leadership Classes and Facilitator Training Courses across the states.
As Captain, Roxanne has run one of the largest patrol area commands in the Las Vegas valley, served as the Internal Affairs Commander and now serves in the Professional Services Division over the Office of Human Resources which includes Backgrounds, Recruiting, Selection and Classification.
Roxanne became involved with the Hope for Prisoners program in 2012 as a Lieutenant and has constantly increased her involvement by both mentoring and teaching within the program. She has also been instrumental in developing expanded leadership courses for graduates of the Hope for Prisoners program and attends multiple conferences to educate other law enforcement agencies about the benefits and success of Hope for Prisoners and the continuing partnership with LVMPD.
