Guidelines

When you confront someone, focus on these:

A. The action, not the person. Talk about what happened, not who they are.

B. Describe, don’t judge. Say what you saw or felt instead of labeling it.

C. Offer useful information, not every detail.

D. Share ideas and options, not demands or orders.

E. Pick a good time and place. Don’t confront in anger or public.

F. Focus on what and how, not why. “Why” can sound like blame.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)
