The Process of Forgiveness

Forgiveness takes time.

It’s not a one-time thing. It’s a process of healing.

Steps in the process:

  1. Face the hurt. Be honest about what happened.
  2. Acknowledge your feelings. Anger, pain, shame — all are real.
  3. Decide to forgive. This choice may take courage every day.
  4. Let go of revenge. Don’t feed the pain by replaying it.
  5. Pray or reflect. Ask for strength to stay free of bitterness.

Healing happens a little at a time. That’s normal.
