Keep it simple, honest, and direct.
A good apology has four parts:
- Be Sincere
- Mean what you say.
- Avoid fake or forced apologies.
- Speak from the heart, not from guilt.
- State the Facts
- Say clearly what you did.
- Example: “I talked over you in the meeting.”
- Don’t make excuses or blame others.
- Be Brief
- Don’t overtalk or explain too much.
- Keep it focused on the apology.
- Example: “I was wrong. I’m sorry for how I acted.”
- Make It Right
- Ask, “What can I do to fix this?”
- Then follow through.
